My name is Bridgit. I am seventeen years old and am the second born in my family of three children.
Thanks to Dignity4Girls, I was able to graduate high school and am now in my first year of nursing college. I was inspired to go into into nursing to help those like my friend who lost both of her hands in an accident. I look forward to being able to serve my community, which has no nurses, due to the cost of training.
I am thankful for Dignity4Girls and my family who have helped empower me, especially during difficult times. To me personal empowerment means to gain confidence in myself, increase my degree of self determination, and to take control of my life. This helps me to make good decisions on how to handle certain situations.
Thank you for helping me achieve my dream of going to college, because going to school is an advantage where we make our future bright!

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our founder, Gayle Sommerfed. On September 24, 2025, Gayle went home to be with her Lord and Savior.
Gayle was a visionary who, motivated by the struggle of Kenyan girls missing school due to period poverty, founded Dignity4Girls in 2014. Inspired by her vision and leadership, D4G has helped over 10,000 girls and women gain access to life-changing menstrual solutions leading to better health, education, and brighter futures.
