Over 2,000 U.S. sewn kits have been shipped to Liberian schools operated by the Liberian Children's Ministry under the direction of Joe Boway. In 2019, a team from Elmhurst, Illinois, traveled to Liberia to distribute kits and provide teachers with training on the menstrual health education materials so they can continue distributing kits and providing health education as shipments arrive. A shipment of 541 kits will be arriving spring of 2021 and we hope to send more as opportunities arise.
The girls all say THANK YOU to our dedicated U.S. sewists!
We no longer send U.S. made kits to Kenya now that they have established their own DfG sewing enterprise. We are supporting their business and watching it grow! In 2020, through D4G funding, their enterprise created and distributed 2,000 face masks and 540 kits. They hope to sew even more in 2021. Since 2015, when D4G started shipments, D4G sent over 2,500 US made kits to Robert Gutwa and his team of social workers and deaconesses in Kisii, Kenya. They are very thankful for the sewists that made that possible. Now, D4G and the Grace Community Center sewists are excited to pivot efforts in Kenya to focusing on the support of their sewing enterprise.
